The Sales Manager develops business through direct sales solicitation, manages accounts to achieve guest satisfaction and to solicit past and new business to ensure all revenue goals are achieved or exceeded.
Handles customer inquiries and acts as the on-property liaison for group sales within the pre-defined peak room parameters for Property Sales. Contracts and closes group business in addition to conducting site inspections. Verifies business is turned over properly and in a timely fashion for quality service delivery.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Knowledgeable of local market, national companies, market trends, competition and customers
- Understands the overall market (e.g., competitors’ strengths and weaknesses, economic trends, supply and demand etc.) and knows how to sell against them.
- Conducts targeted account research to determine revenue potential.
- Serves the customer by understanding their needs and recommending the appropriate features and services that best meet their needs and exceed their expectations
- Achieves group revenue goals by responding to incoming group/catering opportunities for the property that are within the pre-defined peak room parameters.
- Monitors and handles inquiry calls and provide client proposals in accordance with established departmental policies and procedures
- Executes and supports the operational aspects of business booked (e.g., generating proposal, writing contract, customer correspondence).
- Closes the best opportunities for the property based on market conditions and property needs.
- Conducts site inspections, as required.
- Uses negotiating skills and creative selling abilities to close on business and negotiate contracts.
- Participates in business review meetings, training and other sales-related meetings as required.
- Achieves group revenue goals by actively up-selling each business opportunity to maximize revenue opportunity.
- Attends pre- and post-convention meetings to understand group needs, obtain feedback on quality of product (e.g., rooms, meeting facilities and equipment, food and beverage), service levels, and overall satisfaction.
- Provides accurate, complete, and effective turnover to Event Management.
- Verifies that the property implements a seamless turnover from sales to operations and back to sales while consistently delivering high level of service.
- Develops relationship with existing and new customers to enable future bookings through sales calls, entertainment, FAM trips, trade shows, etc.
- Executes exemplary customer service to drive customer satisfaction and loyalty by assisting the customer and verifying their satisfaction before and during their program/event.
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Sales.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum 2 years hotel sales experience, preferably in a full-service, upscale property.
- Large group sales experience preferred.
- Strong communication skills are utilized a significant amount of time when interacting with others; demonstrated ability to interact with guests, employees and third parties that reflects highly on the hotel, and the Company.
- Problem solving, reasoning, motivating, organizational and training abilities are used often.
- Targets accounts, markets, or segments with heavy emphasis on proactive solicitation and account saturation.
- Identifies, qualifies, and solicits new business to achieve personal and property revenue goals
- Must have the ability to set priorities, be a strategic thinker and bring excellent time management and multi-tasking skills.
- Passionate about sales and proven track record of meeting or exceeding targets.
- May be required to work evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
